Open Tutorial & RedBubble

I have a couple of things to update you all on…Firstly I have just opened an account at RedBubble.com. This is an online shop allowing people to buy prints of my work and also t-shirts which is cool. I hope to get the shop intergrated into this site sometime soon as I plan to do more printable artwork in 2009.

Next…At some point in early 2009 I will be starting what I am calling an open tutorial. I will be creating a new work in progress thread on CGTalk, but this time I will be encouraging people to work along side me so we can help each other and share techniques. Its going to be a bit of an experiment, but if your interested in joining please head over to CGTalk [here] and subscribe to the sign up thread.

The subject of the open tutorial was put to the vote and the community chose this image by Dean Yeagle.

Merry Christmas All!

Red & Facebook

A short update today…

First, Red is finally finished and you can view her by moving over to my gallery. I will be posting a selection of wallpapers at some point, as requested, so will let you know when they are up.

I also have a new Facebook group - [Link] so feel free to join up :)

Nearly Done…

Well Red is almost done.

I havn`t posted every step here, but if your interested in seeing more of her progress you can visit the WIP forum on CGTalk - Link

So, what have I done up to now? I rendered out each layer, background, props, character and occlusion and started playing around with the final image in Photoshop by overlaying the layers. I then played around with the filters and adjusted the colour schemes untill I was happy with the basic result.

Here is what I have so far.

The next stage is to start and paint in some details, tweak the general shape etc. so hopefully I will be uploading a final version at some point next week :)

Rendering has begun.

Bit of a bulk update on Red now…

Since the last update I have tweaked her loads thanks to the feedback I have been getting on CGTalk. I have also built her backdrop and started work on the render.

Above are the final models.

Here is an early render where I am playing with lighting.

Here I have started wok on her final shaders/colours.

Red Update…

Red is coming along nicely and I am having some great feedback on the CG forums from fellow artists. I am now almost done with the modeling…Since my last update I have built her clothing, accessories and sword as well as tweaking her legs and face.

I think her face still needs some work but for now I am going to hold off for a few days, come back to her with fresh eyes before I move onto lighting and rendering.

Hairy Canary…

Ok, here is another update on my Red Sonja character…

I managed to do quite alot on her last night…As you can see I added the hair, tweaked her boobs to give them a little more weight, added the seams to her boots and also gave her eye lashes…although they are lost a little on this screen grab.

I also decided to apply some basic colours too…these are just temperary though so please, no comments on the shade of her skin :)

If I get time today I will probably work a little more on her body, hair and face as there is something about it which bugs me…can`t put my finger on what though…Then I guess tomorrow I can start to dress her.

Kinky Boots…

Time for a Red Sonja update

I have worked more on her body, including resizing her head to make it slightly larger. Still not sure about the armpit though….

I have also added her boots, and when I did I realised I had to reposition her left leg slightly as either her foot was through the floor, or one leg was shorter than the other…Fixed now though.

I may leave the body for now, unless someone has any major comments, and move onto her hair.
